Rowetta signs six album deal
Rowetta album track in movie
Rowetta has signed a six album deal with indie label Gut Records. Her first album was released in October 2005.
One of the tracks from the album, the Oasis song Stop Crying Your Heart Out, has been chosen for the soundtrack of the movie Mr and Mrs Smith starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
More details have now been released on Rowetta's debut single and album.
Rowetta is a Celebrity Under Pressure
Rowetta will appear this year in Celebrities Under Pressure.
In the show Rowetta has to live with a family for a week and then undertake a challenge to try to win them a valuable prize.
Rowetta was also on TV with Michael Portillo in March in a programme about domestic violence.
Rowetta after The X Factor
"I can't go anywhere any more. I wouldn't mind if I'd won it, but when you don't win and you can't go out any more with fame it's a bit frustrating. Everybody wants to know if I've got a deal or not and I haven't yet. I was recognised a bit before but never like this, it's ridiculous.
"It hasn't even quietened down since the show finished. I soon forget and just pop into the shop and I've not got one of them looks where you don't notice me, people seem to just find me.
"And they take pictures with those stupid camera phones. That's what makes it worse than it used to be. Autographs is one thing but now everyone's got a picture of you.
"You can't say no because I do love people and everything and they might think I'm some horrible person. You've got to be nice."
Rowetta and G4
Rowetta told the Sun that she wants to date a string of toyboys - starting with some fellow contestants in The X Factor.
She plans to try her luck with all the members of G4.
Rowetta said: “I haven’t got a boyfriend at the moment but I’m going to have loads soon. I’m going to do all of G4. I’m going to go right through them, one by one!
“They know about it. I’ve told them. They took it quite well although I think they’re a bit frightened.
“I’m really gutted that Louis Walsh didn’t pick more boy bands for this show because I’d have had a ball."
In Simon's London home
Simon told Rowetta: "We all think you are a fantastic singer. That's the positive.
"Now I have to come on to the negative. I think you will be impossible to manage."
Rowetta retorted: "No I'm not. I want this more than anybody. If I don't get this I'll be so devastated."
Happy Mondays
Rowetta joined the Manchester band the Happy Mondays in 1990.
She sang on Step On which went to number five in the singles chart and then toured the world with the band for the next three years.
The Happy Mondays broke up in 1993 and then re-formed a couple of times before they finally split in 2000. Rowetta had just had a bust-up with lead singer Shaun Ryder on board a ferry.
First live showdown
Rowetta sang You Don't Have To say You Love Me.
Simon said: "This girl is a superstar in the making."
Louis added: "I absolutely love this girl's voice."
And Sharon told her: "You have a God-given talent and Simon had nothing to do with it."
Rowetta on Radio 1
"Don't vote for me cos I've gone."
Boot camp
"I can sing, can't I?" Rowetta asked. "Simon, will you please tell me I can sing cos I don't know what you think of me."
Simon relented: "You can sing."
"Thank you very much indeed."
