G4 album is number one

G4's debut album shot straight to the top of the UK album charts on 6th March.

The album sold over 200,000 in its first week on sale. It was reported to be the biggest selling album of the year.

Before the album was released G4 said: “The sound of the album will build on what we achieved on the show.

“Our act is a little different from what is out there and we hope that was what drew people to us. We are all just so excited and already so proud of the album.”

After Jon heard G4 were number one in the album charts he said: "We're speechless. I don't think it has kicked-in yet.

"It's ridiculous to think that a group of friends from college have fun and set up a group and randomly telephone a TV show, and now we're number one.

"It's great that people have been buying the album for Mother's Day, and hopefully, on the sly, they're buying it for themselves too."

The album tracks are:

1. Bohemian Rhapsody
2. Nessun Dorma
3. Everybody Hurts
4. Circle Of Life
5. Creep
6. To Where You Are
7. Life On Mars
8. Flower Duet
9. Broken Vow
10. Jerusalem
11. You'll Never Walk Alone
12. My Way

G4 on TOTP

G4 sang Creep on Top of the Pops on 11th March.

They made their first appearance on the show in the first week their album was at the top of the UK charts.

G4 in Covent Garden

G4 sang in London's Covent Garden on 6th March, returning to where they started out busking on the streets.

Fans threw them 2p!

The Guildhall Four

All four members of G4 are graduates of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. The name G4 comes from Guildhall and the number of guys in the band.

Matt Stiff is from Grimsby, Jonathan Ansell from Bognor Regis, Mike Christie from Surrey and Ben Thapa from Cambridge.

Jonathan's grandad

Ben Shephard asked Jonathan's grandad what he thought of the programme.

Jack replied: "The part that Jonathan and his group played was very good. But for the rest of it perhaps I mustn't say."

Jonathan's sister

"He used to be a really annoying little brat to me when I was younger. But now he's just like the best brother I've ever had."

Mike Christie

Mike Christie grew up in Burstow, near Horley in Surrey and went to school in Reigate. He then met band members Matt Stiff, Jon Ansell and Ben Thapa while studying for his singing degree.

Mike said: "We all met at music college where we were training as soloists and opera singers. We started this group up in January just for a laugh, meeting up in our spare time.

"Jon saw the ad on TV and mentioned it to us. We auditioned and here we are in the live finals. It is such a different life."

And to warm up for his singing, Mike moos. Yes - moos like a cow!

Jonathan and the bullies

Jonathan told The Sun he was bullied at school because he was spotty.

But he added: “As it became clear I could sing, kids began to give me a break. With that came attention from the ladies - and I still get that now.”

Mike Christie's mum and dad

Mike's parents, Jill and Adrian, are not used to seeing him on TV.

Jill said: "It is all very strange. The other night we were watching the news and they were covering the Bridget Jones premier and interviewing Renee Zellweger.

"In the background we could see Mike and the boys walking up the red carpet surrounded by all these celebrities."
