Well this is it, who is going to end the night as the winner of X Factor 2009?
Dermot opens the show telling us we have a great show coming up. What will the judges be wearing? Cheryl looked like she was about to appear in a vampire movie, Dannii, looked beautifully elegant, while Simon had his chest out and Louis, well Louis looked like he always does.
The show started with the final twelve singing together, I can’t say it was spectacular, but it was nice to see your favourite back.
Then we had the predictable run through of last night's performances taking us through to the break.
Olly up first with the solo performance singing Twist and Shout. This was an awesome performance from Olly, much better then when he did it the other week. The stage production was fantastic again too. Followed by Joe with Don’t Stop Believin’. It was nice to see Joe move around a bit more, he didn’t need a big production, he just used his voice.
Who won the first round? I have to say I think it was Olly.
We had a break from the final two with JLS and Alexandra performing Bad Boys, with a sprinkling of Everybody in Love. It was a great performance from all of them.
They were followed by the gorgeous and very talented Leona. It is not hard to see why she is such a star. She was just sensational.
Then the big moment, the winner's song ‘The Climb’. Olly went first and he put everything he had into it, but Joe’s voice was just so suited to that song. It was nice to see a different interpretation by both of them on the same song. Both songs were followed by a VT with messages from their families and friends, it was a good move to show them after they had sung, I don’t think they could pulled their emotions back together to perform after watching that.
Round Two has to go to Joe. This feels like it is going to be very close.
George Michael sang his new single ‘December Song’, I love George, but he is so much better then that song.
What a coup for the show next, Sir Paul McCartney, I never thought we would see him performing on The X Factor.
After the break we went straight to the results. Simon came out with a nervous looking Olly and Cheryl with an even more nervous looking Joe.
After the predictable very long Pause, Dermot announced Joe the winner. I don’t think even Olly fans could feel too sad at the verdict. He was a worthy winner.
I thought it was the best final ever, what a star studded show. It was like sitting in a concert through your television, so slick and professionally put together. I personally applauded that the series worst auditionees were not part of the show this year, I did miss the finalists singing a Christmas song, but that is the only fault I could find with the whole weekend. The two hours just flew by. Whatever are we going to do with Saturday and Sunday nights now?
