The X Factor 2 - Auditions - 4

Eskimo Blonde

Friends Hari and Gemma had held their own auditions to find Jemma, the third member of the band.

"You should try to be a pop group. You're not a soul group," Louis told them.

"I disagree with you," Simon said. "I think this girl's voice can handle that," he added, pointing to Hari.

"Gentlemen, put these ladies out of their misery," Sharon told them.

This time everyone was agreed. Eskimo Blonde were through to boot camp.

Sam

"Can I ask something, Sam?" Sharon asked. "Are you bald?"

The six feet eight inches tall Sam quickly took off his woolly hat to reveal he certainly wasn't - and then sang Van Morrison's Moondance.

Sam won a place in boot camp. "There's something about Sam," Simon then confided to the other judges. Maybe a place in the finals, eh Simon?

Stephanie

Adam asked Stephanie to join him in the duo after a previous partner dropped out. They had been singing together for just over a week.

"Are you boyfriend/girlfriend?" Simon asked.

Stephanie explained that they just studied philosophy together and had only exchanged a few words until recently.

"I think he likes you," Simon cooed.

Stephanie started well but the judges didn't like the performance once Adam joined in. They offered Stephanie a place at boot camp but turned down Adam.

"It means you can date now," Simon advised them as they left the audition room.

Michelle

Michelle had auditioned unsuccessfully in 2004.

Simon remembered the event bitterly. "Thank you for making the entire country hate my guts last year," he told her.

This year Simon - and Sharon - voted her through to the next round.

Whitestar

The band Whitestar sang a harmony for the judges.

"This looks to me like ten years ago," Simon told them. However, they won a place at boot camp.

Shanea aka Meg

Goth chick Shanea arrived for her audition with her family in a Batmobile. Kate couldn't say Shanea and called her Meg instead.

"I wasn't in the country last year," Shanea told the judges.

"Transylvania?" enquired Simon.

Louis was impressed with Shanea's singing. "I've never hear a Goth singing Fields of Athanry before," he said. "You sang it really well." Shanea was through to boot camp.

Maria

30-year-old Maria Lawson sang for the judges.

"You have the talent," Louis told her. She was through to the next round.

A delighted Maria ran out of the audition room for a hug from Kate.

Becky

Becky arrived at the auditions with friends Emily and Laura in the group Stiletto and sang The Corrs' Runaway for the judges.

But Simon told her that she should come back and audition as a solo singer.

Emily and Laura didn't think much of that even though the group had failed the audition. Becky phoned her dad and she decided to go back for a solo audition - and won a place at boot camp.

Elvis Presley

“I think you’re more Shakin’ Stevens than Elvis Presley,” Louis told Elvis after his audition.

“Hmm. I think you’re more Shufflin’ Stevens than Shakin’ Stevens,” added Simon.
