The Sunday Express reports that security surrounding Prince William and Prince Harry has been stepped up over fears that renegade IRA terrorists are preparing to carry out an assassination attempt.
The tabloid says that Royal protection officers guarding the two princes have been issued with machine guns and the number of bodyguards on each shift has been increased.
The Express reports that Scotland Yard fears the princes are targets for Irish republican splinter groups because they are officers in the British Army.
Just last week IRA renegades murdered two British soldiers and a police officer in Northern Ireland.
