Kate asked to stay away as William gets his wings

Prince William will receive his pilot's wings during this Friday's graduation ceremony - but Kate won't be there to see it. A source has said that William has pointedly asked Kate to stay away from the ceremony, because the attention lavished on her by the press "annoys him".

The source, quoted by the Daily Mail, stated (about his passing out parade) "The ceremony turned out to be the Middleton parade in the end. There was far too much attention on Kate and her family. It annoyed William and he doesn't want a repeat performance. He has told Kate she needs to keep a lower profile and she is happy to." All eyes were on Kate and her mother when she wore a bright red coat to William's passing out parade- making her very easy to spot amongst the crowd wearing darker colors. This behavior obviously drew William's attention as well as that of the press.

Kate is frequently seen grinning for the cameras after late night drinking sessions with her pals at prominent london clubs such as Boujis and Mahiki. She has also been accused of courting the press by posing for pictures (remember the 'dragon boat fiasco of 2007' anyone?)

While many unnamed sources claim the the couple's relationship is going from strength to strength, one has to wonder how Kate's behavior with the press has effected it. While she doesn't seem to mind being snapped when she's all dressed up to go out on the town, she has turned around and submitted numerous complains to the Press Complaints Commission on other occasions. Anyone who pays attention to the Royal family's relationship with the press knows that you can't run hot and cold with them. There comes a point where you simply have to accept that they will always be there- whether one is walking to work, or getting a parking ticket.

Prince William is currently completing his final leg of training with the Royal Air Force, and will join senior members of the RAF on Thursday evening for a celebratory dinner with Prince Charles, before graduation on Friday. It is unclear whether other members of William's squadron will be present at the dinner.
