No tour of Africa for PrincesPrinces William and Harry's plans to take a motorcycle tour of Africa have been nixed in the planning stages due to the security concerns, which have plagued the idea since the start. Said a source, "Harry has been told that their protection officers would be unĀable to guarantee their safety. They said they simply cannot allow them to put themselves at such a risk of kidnap or ambush." Prince Harry had hoped to use the journey to raise funds for his Lesotho charity, Sentebale. Although the princes are bound to be disapointed the news may be better recieved by Kate Middleton who, according to friends, was feeling "put out" and "excluded" for not being able to help plan their journey as Zimbabwean-born Chelsy Davy had been doing. Said a friend, "Chelsy has been helpful and encouraging about the trip. She has traveled a lot in South Africa and hopes she and Harry might have some time together out there once he has completed the journey. "Kate Middleton, on the other hand, is rather put out by the whole thing. She feels excluded because she can't help in the same way Chelsy can and is annoyed William is choosing to spend some of his valuable leave away from her." But if I were the princes' adviser I wouldn't tell them to hang up their leathers just yet. After all, there are plenty of safer countries to tour. |
