Royal watchers were given a rare treat when Kate and Prince William were caught kissing outside of the Potting Shed pub in Wiltshire. The kiss was captured on film but oddly enough The Sun took the footage down from their website the same day. The timing of the kiss has led to speculation that it may have been staged by William as a show of support to Kate who is said to be suffering from the shocking news of her uncle's dealings with drugs and prostitution. Whatever the case the rare kiss between the couple made one photographer very lucky . . . and many royal fans very happy.
It has occasionally been reported that Kate and William keep their romance out of the public eye by meeting in small country pubs and friends houses. At one time they were a feature at various London nightclubs, but following reports that the Queen asked her grandsons to scale back their clubbing, Kate and William have rarely been seen out on the town. Although speculation of a future engagement hasn't slowed, these days the couple is mainly seen together at occasional weekend polo matches--most recently at the Chakravarty cup.
Much of this is probably to do with William's commitments with the RAF Search and Rescue team. He's reported to be missing out on a beach holiday with Kate and her family due to his training schedule. Kate herself has also largely disappeared from the London scene she was once such a big part of; no doubt due to having left the city to live and work with her parents. But is there more to their Amazing Disappearing Reappearing Royal Romance then busy schedules and distance?
Prince William is said to be intensely protective of his privacy and hates any media intrusion into his (or his friends) private lives. Although happy to play ball when the cameras are invited William obviously takes a dim view when they catch him during his free time. For all her sunny smiles for the cameras Kate herself seems to follow suit. She's famously filed a number of official complaints to the Press Complaints Commission and has been said to have taken the precaution of dropping a number of her friends to keep stories about herself out of the papers. With the amount of scrutiny their relationship has come under and the upset its said to have caused them it would be no surprise if they've decided to go underground with their relationship purely to keep it out of the papers. But rather then keeping engagement gossip down it seems only to fuel the other side of it: that they have broken up again or that Kate is a beard for another relationship. A confused state of affairs William would probably get a kick out of.
Meanwhile rumors continue to link Harry and Chelsy together despite not having been pictured together since their January break up. To all appearances the couple appear to be moving on from their 5 year romance. Both have been seen out with a number of older would-be suitors. Chelsy, who's recently graduated from Leeds, is currently being linked to party-planner Dominic Rose who accompanied Chelsy and a group of friends to Portugal this July. Harry has been linked to a number of older women although only one, Caroline Flack, seems to have been serious.
Nevertheless, the latest gossip says that the former couple has taken a page from William and Kate's book and are meeting each other in quiet locations away from the London club scene. Said a friend, "They made an agreement not to meet at big West End nightclubs so they don't get spotted. But they can still do the odd pub trip together because it's quieter inside."
As for the most down low royal romance of all Zara Phillips and boyfriend Mike Tindall have bought a home in Gloucester. Previously Zara and rugby player Mike were living in a cottage on her mother's estate. Although not as prominent a couple as her cousin William and Kate bets are on that Zara and Mike will beat them to the alter.
