In a move that would put any other person connected to the young royals in the front pages (and certainly the royals themselves) Kate Middleton's embarrassing night out on the town with her family has failed to garner attention in the British media. For which I'm sure she's thankful. Just last year this would have been unheard of but the British media have been keeping Kate at arms length lately. Or perhaps it's the other way around? Australian magazine Woman's Day however carried the tale complete with pictures.
After having celebrated James Middleton's 22nd birthday a little too well the Middleton family found themselves having to call it a night in the glare of paparazzi attention as they left a London club. Annoying at the best of times the situation with the paparazzi became downright embarrassing for the Middleton's as a very drunken James was photographed urinating against a fence and having to be helped to walk.
Known for their usually bright smiles in the face of paparazzi attention Kate, sister Pippa and mother Carole looked positively mortified at being caught during a less then glamorous moment. An angry looking Carole was photographed trying to stop a photographer from taking her picture while a bleary eyed Kate tried to hide her face and reportedly kept a distance from her family as they tried to deal with her drunken brother. It's so much easier to leave a club with bodyguards in tow and a royal car waiting, isn't it?
Naturally, if you're talking about Kate Middleton then the subject of a future royal wedding is bound to come up. So it was unsurprising that the magazine went on to ask if the pictures of Kate's suddenly less-than-picture-perfect family will spoil her chances of marrying William. Personally speaking I think it seems unlikely that it would. Lord knows the royals have been photographed from their bad sides too. A much more interesting question to my mind is why the British media has gone all quiet after years and years of banging on every banal detail about her.
Speaking of which, Kate's related to the writer Arthur Ransome. Fascinating.
