Carole Middleton talks to Mandrake?

Carole Middleton has made a big royal-hanger-on no-no this week, when she spoke to Telegraph reporter Richard Eden (Mandrake) about living in the spotlight. While attending the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury racecourse in Berkshire, Carole and Mandrake had a short chat about how the public scrutiny has affected her family and her business.

Claiming that she feels "vulnerable" about everything, Carole stated, "I'm not a celebrity and don't want to be one. Celebrities have minders and PR people. I don't want a PR person and wouldn't want to have to pay to employ one. I haven't asked for all this" - a statement that flies in the face of speculation that she encouraged Kate to attend St. Andrew's University to bag herself a Prince.

Carole also put rest to the rumor that she made a series of faux pas when meeting the Queen - she has, in fact, never met Her Majesty.

Carole ended her conversation with Mandrake reminding him that she has 3 children, not just Catherine, and worries about how the public scrutiny will effect them, and their jobs.

So now, royal watchers, we are left with the question: What does all of this mean?!

Have Kate and William broken up? Is this a calculated PR move on the part of the Palace? or on the part of the Middleton's? Are they trying to get our sympathy? Or, did Carole not realize she was talking to a reporter? What's next on the docket for Kate and William - an engagement announcement or another 'lets drink the menu' type of weekend?
