Buckingham PalaceBuckingham Palace has announced that Prince William is to be made a member of the Garter Knights this June. The State Opening of Parliament for the 2007-08 Session will take place on Tuesday 06 November 2007. Her Majesty the Queen will be accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh. Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II has today welcomed the King of Saudi Arabia to the United Kingdom at a ceremony in Horse Guards Parade. Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall has decided against attending the upcoming Diana, Princess of Wales memorial service this Friday, 31st August 2007 at Guards Chapel, Wellington Barracks in London. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is set to welcome King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia on a State Visit at the end of October 2007 at Buckingham Palace. This will be the fourth State Visit by a Saudi monarch to the United Kingdom since Her Majesty’s accession to the throne in February 1952. Buckingham Palace and Clarence House are both entangled in separate disputes with the British Broadcasting Corporation. In an unpleasant reminder of the Windsor Castle fire, a "crumbling" Buckingham Palace is struggling to get funding for much needed repairs to it's roof and exterior walls. Rear Admiral Timothy Laurence has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of Defence Estates and will be promoted to Vice Admiral in the Royal Navy when he takes up his new role in April 2007. The New Walk Museum and Art Gallery – Leicester premier museum and art gallery is playing host to a very special royal portrait, the Queen’s 80th birthday portrait by Rolf Harris. Her Majesty the Queen has acquired a portrait by Pietro Annigoni – the portrait shows Her Majesty in the robes of the Order of the British Empire. |
