This week saw a major development in the relationship of the Queen’s grandson Peter Phillips and his Canadian girlfriend, Autumn Kelly. Autumn has joined senior members of the Royal Family on a cruise to mark the monarch’s 80th birthday. The invite is significant because only those who are arguably “accepted” into the world’s most famous family would be invited on such a trip.

Queen Elizabeth II has set off on a cruise of the Western Isles in celebration of her 80th birthday.

The Queen payed £125,000 out of her own privy purse to hire the MV Hebridean Princess for eight days. The ship is a converted car ferry and is crewed by low paid Latvian workers earning only £40 a day.
