Will the BBC dump Graham Norton on Strictly Come Dancing fans next year? And will Bruce "Doddery I am Not" Forsyth be sent of in his wheelchair to make room for him?
Norton is twiddling his thumbs for most of the year despite picking up a multi-million pound paycheck from his prodigal employer. He occasionally does some formulaic chat shows on BBC Two but they now look well past their sell-by date.
Andrew Lloyd Webber has told the BBC it will have to wait before he asks the BBC to promote his next musical venture in the West End. And so Graham won't be presenting a show for him next year.
Word has it that the BBC is thinking of shaking up Strictly Come Dancing despite it being its most popular show on Saturdays.
The News of the World predicts the ageing dancers and celebrity dancers will be axed and Brucie will be dumped at the same time.
The paper also predicts:
- A-list celebs and young soap stars will take the place of older celebrities
- single dancers and stars will be paired to generate some sexual chemistry
- the results shows will be shown live on Saturdays instead of showing a recording on Sundays when many viewers already know the results.
Norton looks the most likely candidate to replace Brucie. The BBC has to find something he can do on BBC One to justify the size of his contract. And there are not exactly many other strong entertainment show presenters waiting in the wings on British TV. Strictly fans should be prepared for some major meddling next year.
