This year’s deserved winner of Strictly Come Dancing is Tom Chambers. He and his dance partner Camilla were crowned king and queen of dance tonight in an exciting final.
The evening started out with the three remaining couples dancing two dances each. Rachel and Vincent gave it their all and impressed the judges again, which landed them with an incredible 40 and 39 points. Tom and Camilla took a stumble during their foxtrot, which cost them points, but excelled in their rhumba, scoring 35 and 38 points. Lisa and Brendan landed a record when they received the full 40 points twice. The judges praised Lisa’s hard work and Brendan’s ability to teach her so much. They were glowing with pride, but their happiness did not last long when they found out they were first to leave the final. A big surprise, as they seemed most likely to reach the top two; Rachel and Vincent had already been in the bottom two a couple of times and Tom and Camilla were dangling down the bottom of the leaderboad, even though last week’s votes were passed through to tonight. Lisa and Brendan’s farewell dance showed their incredible skill and I’m sure the judges were sad to see them go.
Things really heated up in the freestyle show dances. Rachel and Vincent did a perfect dance, as we’ve become used to, but it was a tad boring, even though there were a couple of sensational lifts. Tom and Camilla, on the other hand, did and exciting and humorous routine that showed the best of both of them. Even though the judges had been favoring Rachel, they had to admit that Tom and Camilla had shown an incredible dance that was superior to that of Rachel and Vincent. Unsurprisingly, this dance sealed their victory.Tom, who had been very supportive of his fellow contestants during the night, instantly gave all credit to Camilla, telling her she deserved this award more than anyone. It was a wonderful ending to a great final (which included dances by former winners and former contestants) and a great series.
