SCD week 12: Austin & Erin are voted off

Rugby star Austin Healey and partner Erin Boag have been voted off Strictly Come Dancing after losing the dance off against Lisa Snowden and Brendan Cole.

Again this week, the couples had to perform two dances, one Ballroom, one Latin, and I have to say, I didn't think the standard was quite as high as last week's dances - I thought some of the dances lacked that bit of something.

Austin and Erin were first to dance on this week's show, and they performed the American Smooth and the Salsa. Their Smooth was a tad disappointing but their Salsa was better, however, it didn't stop them from scoring the lowest score amongst the couples, scoring 70 in total. Next to dance were Lisa and Brendan; their first dance was the Waltz which wowed the judges but their second dance, the Jive didn't impress the judges as much, scoring 72 in total. Tom and Camilla danced next with the Foxtrot and Rumba, scoring 73 in total; the judges loved the Foxtrot but not the Rumba as much. Last to dance were Rachel and Vincent with the Tango and Cha Cha, scoring 76 in total and impressing the judges with both dances.

Unsurprisingly, the dance off was between the couples with the lowest scores from the judges - Lisa and Austin. Again, the couples performed their highest scoring dance - Lisa, the Waltz and Austin, the Salsa. The judges thought the quality of the dance off was very high but unanimously voted off Austin. I am very disappointed that Austin was voted off tonight; yes, he did score the lowest score overall tonight, however, he has been more consistent over the weeks than Lisa imo, and I wouldn't be surprised if Lisa had scored the lowest public vote only to be saved by the judges yet again. Austin was very gracious and it was nice to see all the judges give him and Erin a standing ovation.

The semi final is next week where Lisa, Rachel and Tom will attempt the Argentine Tango.
