Prince Philip hospitalizedPrince Philip, 86, is undergoing a second day of treatment for a chest infection at the King Edward VII Hospital in London. Originally he was suffering from a "heavy cold" which caused him to cancel his appearance at the memorial service for New Zealand mountaineer Sir Edmund Hillary. Since then his cold has developed into a much more worrying chest infection and the Prince remains hospitalized. Although the Prince has been forced to cancel all his engagements for the weekend he is said to be keeping himself busy with correspondence and paperwork, which he brought the hospital. Said a Buckingham Palace spokesperson, "The Duke of Edinburgh has been admitted to the King Edward VII Hospital for assessment and treatment for a chest infection. His Royal Highness's programme of engagements for the weekend have been canceled." The Duke is renowned for his usually robust health but recently rumors have appeared that the Duke has been suffering from a few health problems. If so, he has not let it slow him down having just recently appeared in typical good form at the French State visit. |
