Harry will not lead soldiers to war, but he will lead them to LesothoOn the heels of the Ministry of Defense's decision that Prince Harry will not be redeployed to a war zone it's been revealed that he is planning a mission of a different sort. Although the prince has said that he would return to battle should he been called upon to do so the MOD has said that the next 18 months of Harry's army career will be devoted to regimental duties at home. General Sir Richard Dannatt, Chief of the General Staff said, "It was absolutely the right decision to send him. It reflected very well on the relationship between the Royal Family, the armed forces and the nation. There may well be some point in the future where it will be appropriate to deploy him [Harry] somewhere but that is not going to happen any time soon." It's been suggested that the prince--who's professionalism in the field has been praised by both British and American top brass--may also be set to train other soldiers as JTACs. Sources close to the prince say although he is eager to return to his duties as an operational soldier he accepts the General's decision. Although there's no doubt the army will be keeping him busy Harry is eager to continue his charitable duties as well. And having seen up close the amount of work a group of soldiers can do in a short amount of time he's keen to combine his interests and get other soldiers involved in his latest Sentebale project. Harry is planning 3-month exercise in Lesotho during which he and other soldiers in his regiment will train as well as help the community. The prince recently returned from a 2 day visit to Lesotho where he set up the ground work for the mission, visited projects and charity beneficiaries and dropped in on Lesotho's King Letsie III. As you do! Confirmed Sentebale's Country Director, Mr Brown, "Harry was here to do a 'recce' for the exercise. We're setting up for the long term. Chucking money at projects without checking what's being done won't work." An unnamed source said of Harry's latest project, "This adventure represents the next step for the young officer Harry. It had been unclear what he planned to do next after returning from Afghanistan. But he is now expected to arrange and plan a period of training for his troops. "Harry being Harry, he decided to do something totally different and came up with the idea of taking them to Lesotho. He knows better than anyone how much good a team of soldiers could do there in a relatively short space of time." Click here to discuss Harry's Lesotho project |
