Meeting Prince Harry: two very different experiences!

At a royal event it's never much of a surprise when a member of the royal family shows up, but sometimes they can take you by surprise. Such was the experience of Welsh comedian Rob Brydon who found himself in the somewhat awkward position of having Prince Harry waiting behind him in line for the toilet.

Speaking during Channel 4's New Years Eve quiz show, Big Fat Quiz of the Year, Rob Brydon reveled how he turned his awkward experience into a funny one telling the audience and the other contestants, "I once had an encounter with Prince Harry in a toilet. No, it's true. I was at a thing and went to use the loo and there was a little anteroom; you opened the door and then you had to wait and there was the loo. But the loo door was locked so I had to wait. And behind me the door opened and it was Prince Harry.

"So I went in and I've never peed under such pressure before. I could barely go knowing that there was a prince behind the door. I hurriedly finished and came out and I said, which I thought was quite good: 'There we are, you're next in line for the throne.'"

Engineer Officer Liam Stanley, a marine engineer with the Royal Navy, however, had a much less unexpected meeting with Prince Harry this past October when the prince undertook his first official duties as the honorary Commander-in-Chief of Small Ships and Diving. The prince marked the occasion by visiting the Portsmouth naval base where Stanley gave Prince Harry a tour of HMS Ranger, which is used for military training.

Liam Stanley, who served as part of the military guard at the Queen Mother's 2002 state funeral, said it was an honor to meet the Prince and give him a tour of his ship. "He came across as very jovial and down to earth, had a good laugh with the crew and was just like any other normal 23 year old.

I was with Prince Harry for about an hour while he was on board, he seemed very interested in what we are doing and it was a great honour meeting him."
