The winner from Jordan
Superstar, The Pan-Arabic version of Pop Idol was broadcast to 22 countries - and had competitors from several Arabic countries.
Throughout the series Diana sang classical Arabic songs. The week before the final the last male in the competition, a Lebanese hearthrob, was voted out of the show - and there was mayhem in the studio as people surged onto the stage.
In the all-female final Diana beat Rowaida Atieh from Syria.
Diana said that she couldn't consider representing the Arab countries in any other language than Arabic and sang a classical Arabic song, Ensany Ma Bensak (Forget Me, I Won't Forget You) in World Idol. She explained to the audience - to a big round of applause - she thought that all the other singers should sing in their own languages too.
After her performance, Simon Cowell was for once completely lost for words and admitted: "I wouldn't have a clue whether that was any good."
Pete Waterman asked him: "Did you like it?"
Simon admitted: "No."
Pete asked: "But does that matter in this case?"
Simon answered: "No. Because I'll tell you what you did. You stopped this competition turning into a glorified karaoke competition and I salute you for that."
