Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall visit EgyptThe Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall began their two week official tour of Egypt, Saudi Arabia and India with a stop in Cairo today. The Prince and the Duchess were shown the work that is done by the Aga Khan Foundation in the district of Darb Al-Ahmar, near the capital, Cairo. The foundation works to revitalise the district using workshops to help the locals build furniture for their homes and to give them craft training They also visited a nearby park, where they joined some Egyptian government ministers, senior Egyptian businessmen and media figures and British nationals living in the capital for an outdoor reception. Later, the royal couple visited the Cairo museum to view ancient Egyptian artefacts. The main goal of their visit is to promote better understanding and tolerance between faiths. |
