Fame Academy House doubles in price overnight

The Fame Academy House in Highgate has not been used since the end of the first Comic Relief Does Fame Academy series shown on BBC One in 2003 and had been on sale for £37 million before then. The local residents got fed up with BBC helicopters buzzing them and Camden Council told the BBC it couldn't use it for its any more Fame Academy shows.

In June this year the owners finally managed to sell the giant heap for £32 million. And now it is back on the market again with an asking price believed to be about of £75 million.

The 1913 building, Witanhurst, is a 90-plus room mansion where Queen Elizabeth once played as a girl.

Marcus Cooper, a property developer who bought the house originally planned to develop the crumbling house. Maybe his broker recommended too many sub-prime bonds - but now he says that he wants to work in partnership with a buyer to create a luxury home of their dreams.

Let's hope Mr Cooper can find someone sooner than the previous owners who waited years before he showed up as a buyer.
