Princess Grace: 25 years on

Twenty-five years after the death of Monaco's Princess Grace, her children are planning to commemorate her life by exhibiting some of her most personal possessions.

From items as personal as letters she wrote, to some of the more famous dresses she wore- all will be on display starting 12 July at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. A smaller display will travel to New York in October. In choosing the items to put on display, Prince Albert said, "It was very much a family process. It wasn't a painful process. It was an emotional one, but a joyful one."

On display will be items from her private life such as a poem she wrote for Prince Albert on his 18th birthday and unseen home movies, as well as items from her very public life such as her wedding dress and letters from Alfred Hitchcock and from Jacqueline Kennedy.

Princess Grace was 52 years old when she died- skidding off the road just outside Roc Agel, the family retreat in Monaco. Following the accident there was plenty of speculation as to what exactly caused her to loose control of her vehicle, but doctors reasoned she most likely suffered a mild stroke.

2007 also marks the 10th anniversary of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. Her children, Prince William and Prince Harry will celebrate their mother's life with a pop concert on her birthday.
