Princess Stephanie, tireless humanitarian advocate against AIDS

Princess Stephanie was nominated last year at a UN High Level Meeting on Aids, as a UNAIDS Special Representative in acknowledgement of her fund-raising efforts and educational campaign against this global endemic.

In February and March, Stephanie has teamed up with artists from the acclaimed musical Le Roi Soleil, as well as other famous international performers, to host two shows at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.

The first large scale event the Princess and her brother, Prince Albert hosted was the glittering reception for the cast of the hit musical The Sun King to benefit her Aids charity.

All Proceeds from the event went to the Fight AIDS Monaco organization and the building of a special house – the ‘Maison la Vie’ - in Provence, France intended as a centre for dialogue for people living with HIV and will offer care and support services.

The house is planned for opening by 2008 and Princess Stephanie hopes people living with HIV will come and “recharge their batteries”, gain self-confidence and build skills to face the challenges posed by AIDS.

Last week, Princess Stephanie as President of Monaco Charity Operation received from Cyrille Vigneron, Cartier General Manager the proceedings from a bracelet named Love Charity, to profit Fight Aids Monaco. The bracelet was sold between June – December 2006, raising 23.400 Euro.

The General Manager also gave Princess Stephanie a new bracelet which will be sold from June 8 to December 31, 2007, renewing its commitment to fight Aids Monaco.
