Any Dream Will Do - Shame on Seamus!

The second show of this evening saw the remaining nine Josephs whittled down to eight. They performed their group number this evening to Queen’s “One Vision,” while the lines were still open for the public to vote for their favourite.

It was then revealed that the boys had all been presented with their Joseph loincloths earlier in the week – as they were trying them on, Denise Van Outen thanked Andrew Lloyd Webber effusively for inviting her to be a judge on this show!! The Josephs then had to perform in their loincloths in front of their mothers – whether it was the mothers or the loincloths that gave them problems was unclear, but many of them had real difficulty in remembering their lyrics and Andrew was visibly annoyed with several of them.

He also remarked that he had thought the boys were going to be stronger and tougher than last year’s “Maria’s,” but this was proving not to be the case and that some of them really needed to toughen up and sharpen up a bit this week.

Finally the phone lines closed and Graham Norton revealed that the two least popular Josephs after the second phone-in were Seamus and Ben. Ben looked almost resigned to leaving whilst the look of shock on Seamus’ face was quite obvious. The boys had to sing “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother,” in front of Andrew, in which they both gave a very emotional and strong performance. Ben was still looking dejected and ready to go, when Andrew decided that he had improved a great deal over the last week and chose to save him.

When asked how he felt, Seamus gave the astonishing reply that he thought the words “Conspiracy Theory,” were involved somewhere! As he sang his swansong, “Close Every Door,” he unbelievably changed the lyrics in the final line – “I have been promised a SHOW of my own.” It will remain to be seen whether this will hinder or help his future career or whether he has indeed been promised something - by Bill Kenwright maybe??? No doubt all will be revealed soon!
