The hills are alive with the sound of a backing track

The Daily Mail reports that Connie Fisher is now singing over a backing track in The Sound of Music.

When Connie her starring role before a BBC TV audience in the BBC show How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? the 23-year-old singer insisted she would be able to perform the eight shows each week.

After two weeks off with damaged vocal cords, her performance is being boosted with a recording of her voice.

A so-called "click track" - a recording - is being used during songs including The Lonely Goatherd and I Have Confidence.

A theatre source claimed Connie Fisher is now "just miming" some of the songs. But a spokesman for the show was adamant the backing track is simply boosting her voice and that she is still singing.
