Laurence promoted to Vice Admiral in the Royal NavyRear Admiral Timothy Laurence has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of Defence Estates and will be promoted to Vice Admiral in the Royal Navy when he takes up his new role in April 2007. In his new role as new Chief Executive of Defence Estates, Rear Admiral Timothy Laurence will be responsible for the management of the Defence Estates – an executive agency of the Ministry of Defence responsible for the upkeep of British military facilities in the United Kingdom and overseas. The Defence Estates is one of the largest landowners in the United Kingdom. Princess Anne, the Princess Royal married Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence as he is about to become in December 1992 at a private ceremony near Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Over the past few years, Timothy Laurence has been involved with strategic planning at the Ministry of Defence and has served as Assistant Private Secretary to the Defence Secretary, and since July 2004 as Assistant Chief of Defence Staff.
