Princess Anne in ChilePrincess Anne, the Princess Royal is currently in Chile on a four day long official visit aimed at further improving relations between the United Kingdom and Chile.
Her Royal Highness was today received by the President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet at the Palace of Cerro Castillo in Viña del Mar for an official dinner in honour of the Princess’s visit to the country. Yesterday, the Princess visited the Chilean Antarctic Institute in the southern city of Punta Arenas, there Her Royal Highness was able to see the work done by the institute on matters relating to global warming and the conservation of endangered species. The head of the Chilean Antarctic Institute, Dr. José Retamales accompanied the Princess during her visit. Her Royal Highness is greatly interested in matters relating to the continent and is always very pleased when an opportunity comes to personally view the work done by organisations working for the preservation of Antarctica. Princess Anne during her visit to the Chilean Antarctic Institute managed to secure a ‘cooperation’ deal between the Chilean Antarctic Institute and other similar organisations including the British Antarctic Survey. The last visit to Chile by Princess Anne was in 1991. Click Here to visit the Royal Forum. |
