How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? - Connie's StoryIt is over three months since Connie Finisher won the widely acclaimed television show How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? to take on her dream role staring as Maria in Andrew Lloyd-Webber's production of The Sound of Music. When Connie made her West End debut last month she opened to rave reviews, standing ovations and several award nominations despite the show having been plagued with problems including losing the leading man, Simon Shepherd, just nine days before curtain-up. Just a year ago she was close to despair, having been rejected for Mamma Mia a third time. When she joined the queue to audition for Maria in Cardiff, she was so depressed that she nearly didn't bother. Now she says she is "the luckiest girl alive". Connie Fisher's meteoric rise to fame is the subject of an hour-long documentary this Christmas. How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? Connie's Story will be shown on BBC1 at 6.30pm on Wednesday 27th December. |
