Cirque de Celebrite - Grace Adams-Short takes the crown

After ten weeks and the elimination of 9 of the 12 original contestants the Grand Final was finally here with Kenzie, Emma B and Grace Adams-Short battling it out for the Cirque de Celebrite winner's crown - well trophy.

The show started with drama as it was revealed that Grace had suffered the worst injury of the series after tripping and breaking her foot on Thursday night. Would she be able to take part? Or would her injury force her to pull out at this late stage?

Showing the stamina and determination that has surprisingly helped make her the darling of the show, Grace vowed that she would carry on, and carry on she certainly did.

This week all three contestants were to perform on the high wire and also one other discipline chosen by the judges.

Kenzie was first up on the high wire managing to walk all the way across with circus performer Chico (no not that Chico, though that could have been fun to watch) on his shoulders. The judges heaped praise on him with Philip being left speechless at how fantastic he was and he scored his first ever full marks of the series with three 10s.

Kenzie also tackled the swinging trapeze in what was actually, I thought, a rather clumsy routine. Ann agreed with me, calling it 'awkward' but Phillip and Louie both sang his praises again, leaving him with an overall score of 56/60.

Emma B had also suffered an injury this week, crushing her ribcage after a fall on a drop on the corde lysse. She was already feeling low after ending last week's show on such a high so her mood was not great. She was lifted though by a video message from her father who is in Australia and whom she was really missing.

The judges were not overly impressed by her performance on the aerial hoop, awarding her only 21/30 and saying that she wasn't up to scratch. She managed to 'redeem' herself on the high wire receiving judges' comments of 'sensational' and 'knockout' and getting three 10s - giving her an overall score of 51/60.

Grace gave valiant performances on both the high wire and aerial hoop but only managed to score a total of 48/60 putting her in third place before the public votes were counted.

After a group performance by all the series contestants - except Sophie Anderton who came on at the start to boos - it was time to announce the winner.

Kenzie took third place, though by rights he never should really have made it as far as the final, which left Emma and Grace fighting it out for first place. Grace was declared winner and well done to her. She has shown amazingly skill all through the series and seems even to have managed to turn around the public's perception of her after her unpopular appearance in Big Brother earlier this year.
