Gill Harbord and her colleagues at Eggleston Hall invited several of their students from both series of Ladette to Lady back to Eggleston Hall for a reunion. They wanted to know how the girls had fared since leaving the finishing school and going back to their real lives. Who would have changed her life for the better and who would have reverted to her previous ladette behaviour? Six girls were featured, two from the first series and four from the second series which was televised earlier this year.
Clare (series 1) had been described by her own father as a "drunken bum" who would fling herself at any man when she was drunk, which was most of the time. She had been expelled from Eggleston Hall just three days before the grand final after being caught red-handed with a man in the local pub. Now the non-drinking mother of cute little daughter Madison and planning to marry next year, her future husband had succeeded where Eggleston Hall had failed to tame her.
Michelle (series 1) the gas-fitter had struggled at first but finally blossomed. Now in charge of a team of 16 male gas fitters she has not let that stop her from enjoying the femininity that she found at Eggleston Hall, a lady through and through.
Louise, who had shown potential in class but constantly disgraced herself outside it, was enjoying her new life as a topless model and star of sleazy films, but was absolutely horrified to realise that Gill Harbord knew all about her new career. Gill later remarked "she said she's not ashamed of it, so why didn't she want me to know?"
Fran, famous for flashing her surgically enhanced breasts at every opportunity, was now dressing demurely and loving her new life as a recruitment consultant. Her new boss described her as very professional, excellent at sales, and a great asset to the team. Fran said that she owed it all to Eggleston Hall.
Clara, tomboy turned beauty, has had her life turned upside down by the experience, She loves every minute of being a lady and is still very happy with Viscount Kelburn, one of the eligible young bachelors she met while at Eggleston Hall. She says that she sees no reason why she couldn't some day be running a castle.
Vicky, winner of series 2, who left Eggleston Hall determined to go back to college to retake her A Levels and then go on to study nursing, has not managed to motivate herself to do either yet and is still working at the tanning salon. She has managed to get her partying under control and is no longer spending all her wages going out drinking five nights a week.
Their lives might not have turned out quite the way Gill and her team had hoped or expected but each of the six girls featured in the programme seemed happy, settled and confident, and all of them credited Eggleston Hall for the changes. It seems there is a place in the modern world for good old-fashioned values.
