Flappers and Gangsters? Is it a movie? No! It's Chelsy's 21st birthday party! Chelsy Davy has celibrated her milestone birthday with a 1920's theme.
The lavish $20,000 party was held in Cape Town's Beluga restaurant, with resturant staff decorated with 1920's movie icons such as Dirk Bogart, Lauren Bacall and James Cagney.
Among the 160 guests who came to help Chelsy celebrate her big day was surprise guest Prince Harry! Prince Harry made the most of the party's theme by dressing up as Al Capone in white hat and braces and speaking with a gangster's accent and phrases.
Said one guest, "Harry sidled up to Chelsy and whispered, 'You dirty rat'. I think he got Humphrey Bogart mixed up with Al Capone, but no one cared."
The teasing continued as he called Chelsy, who was dressed as a flapper, his "moll". A moll being short for the old-fashioned term "gun moll" who were the daring—and-dangerous! girlfriends of American gangsters - the most famous gun moll being Bonnie Parker of Bonnie and Clyde fame who was killed alongside her lover in 1934.
And did Chelsy enjoy her surprise guest? "Harry is my best birthday present ever," she was heard to say.
I think we can take that as a yes!
