Princess Victoria attends parliament openingAccompanied by her parents, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia, Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria attended the openining of parliament Tuesday. The 29-year old princess was dressed in classic black for the occasion. Parliament was officially opened by King Carl Gustaf, who warned that action was needed to protect life on earth in the face of climate change. The King used his speech to challenge the Riksdag to take action against global warming. Princess Victoria was met by prominent members of parliament such as Per Westerberg (the speaker) the three deputy speakers, and the prime minister, Göran Persson. The event was one of Persson's last official duties as prime minister and notably one of the first of many official duties for Princess Victoria. Click here to discuss this article on the forum. |
