Last Choir Standing

After a recap of tonight's earlier performances and then a guest appearance by Josh Groban singing his best-loved song 'You Raise me Up' it was time to find out which three choirs will be singing in the final next week.

The numbers are dwindling and there are now only 109 voices to join in singing the opening number which tonight was 'One Night Only'.

After a recap of all ten of tonight's performances and then a guest appearance by Katherine Jenkins singing 'You'll never walk alone' we finally got down to the important business - the clash of the choirs.

The last five choirs each had two chances to persuade the public to vote to keep them in the competition.

The Last Choir Standing judges had selected the six choirs they liked best and this show was the first time for viewers to vote on their favourites.

There were three choirs in competition for the one last remaining place in the finals. All three had shown early promise but had not lived up to that promise in the later heats.

In the third and final studio heat five more choirs compete for the last two places in the finals. The show opened with their 168 voices singing a rousing chorus of 'With A Little Help From My Friends'.

For the second heat the BBC had decided to make us wait another day for the results show - why have they adopted this annoying practice? Three very different male voice choirs would be competing for a single place in the final six

In the second studio heat five more choirs compete for another two places in the finals. This heat included both the youngest and the oldest choirs members, with ages ranging from 15 to 82.

Three choirs would be fighting it out for a place in the final six, but first Sense of Sound who had already gained one of the coveted six places performed a slick version of 'Let It Be'.
