Callbacks for Last Choir StandingAlmost thirty choirs invited back to perform in front of a live audience at BBC Television Centre had to be whittled down to just fifteen who will now go on to try for a place in the final six. Once again the show was rather bitty, perhaps even more so than the previous week's audition shows, but this is down to the sheer number of choirs competing. It is to be hoped that from now on we will be able to see rather more of each individual choir than the tiny snippets we have been allowed so far. At least there was some continuity with the previous show as we caught up with some of the choirs which were featured then, though other choirs had not been seen prior to tonight's episode. Brighton Gay Men's Chorus had failed to get through last week when both the girls said no, despite Russell's pleading. Eventually he wore them down and Suzy and Sharon told him to make a phone call to tell the choir of their change of heart. Dreemz was another choir who had got through by the skin of their teeth (and a lot of angst from Sharon) but in the short time between auditions and callbacks had managed to find themselves a musical director, recent music graduate Laura. After working with her for only seven days their callback performance was a vast improvement on their audition. They should all be very proud of themselves. The choirs were all sent home leaving their musical directors behind to hear their fate. The final fifteen choirs are: ACM Gospel Choir; Alleycats; Brighton Gay Men's Chorus; City of Bath Male Choir; The Common Room Choir; Dreemz; A Handbag of Harmonies; Hear Me Now!; Hereford Police Male Choir; Last Minute; Only Men Aloud!; Open Arts Community Choir; Revelation; Sense of Sound; Ysgol Glanaethwy. |
