Cool it, Kate. William wants a break to concentrate on military career

They are the couple that has been rumored to be getting engaged "next year" for the past four years. Now it's rumored that William wants to be apart from her so he can concentrate on his military training over the next year.

Said a source, "William has told Kate if they can survive this long stint apart then he'll propose to her. The pressure will then be on to get married from next year.

"Kate has been playing second fiddle since the start of the year spending very little time with William. William has told her in no uncertain terms he wants to prioritize his duties and throw himself into the role. It's almost a case of, 'Don't call me, I'll call you'. At the moment the only chance she gets to see him is at weekends when he returns from RAF training."

If she's lucky that is. Although it's possible that the two have been able to meet in secret, they have not been pictured together publicly since December. Although it was reported that William and Kate wanted to get together over the Valentine's weekend to "discuss" their relationship which, according to friends, is "virtually over", they instead spent Valentine's apart; the reason given that the RAF wanted all of their pilots to be on base that day. More tellingly though there is no evidence to suggest that they tried to get together the next week or the week before which William spent enjoying a weekend surfing holiday in Cornwall with friends.

Could the world's most well publicized couple really be managing to conduct their relationship in secret? Or is it true that the couple promoted to be the next royal wedding has grown apart and are about to call it quits? According to friends that's exactly what Kate is afraid of.

Said a friend, "Kate is prepared to wait for William—there is no question of that. But she's concerned he's trying to loosen the relationship. He wants to excel at his military career but she doesn't want it to be at the expense of their relationship. After all she has put five years hard work into it and taking the pressure that comes with being his girlfriend.

"She knows it's a risk but feels she can only accept his 'pact'. Kate loves him and hopes he will finally realize she's the one."
