Earlier this week it was Kate Middleon caught speaking on camera which caused a fuss...now it's her uncles turn. Undercover journalists posing as PAs for a wealthy businessman secretly filmed Kate's maternal uncle Gary Goldsmith preparing Class A drugs for sale, offering the services of a prostitute and bragging about his royal connections. The footage has since ended up on the infamous tabloid News of the World where it is likely to cause a lot of embarrassment to the Middleton family and legal repercussions for her uncle.
In 2006 Kate and Prince William were guests at her uncle's multimillion dollar villa, which he calls Le Maison de Bang Bang in Ibiza. Describing the prince as lovely and friendly Gary Goldsmith said of his visit, "My first words to Prince William were, 'Oi, you f***er! Did you break my glass pyramids?' He and a pal had been throwing balls around and broke all these ornamenal pyramids I had. Loads of them."
"They were talking about boobs at the time, around the table at my sister's house. William said that more than a handful is a waste! He had to wear the hanky of shame. I made him put on a napkin!"
Disturbingly the large variety of drugs seemed to be kept right in the open as Goldsmith continually offered them to the journalists and admitted to doing them himself. It is of course unknown if drugs were so readily available during Prince William and Kate's visit or if either were aware of her uncle's dealings in drugs and prostitution.
Kate's uncle went on to say that he and his girlfriend-who was present at the time of the filming-were going to meet Kate and William in London for lunch saying, "Yeah. We're going. To see their little romance blossoming."
Unsurprisingly the journalists were keen to get him talking about the possibility of a royal engagement. Said Goldsmith, "They're talking about an announcement later this year. I'll be giving her away. I'll be the Duke of Slough. I'm going to be up front. I want a speaking part."
Highly unlikely.
