Crown Princess Mary first official portrait

The first official portrait of Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is to be unveiled on 7 April 2006.

The official portrait is described as "exciting and innovative", showing Mary's Australian background and Danish position; It will hang alongside paintings of other famous Aussies when it is unveiled at Frederiksborg Castle next month.

The castle in Hillerød, Denmark was built as a royal residence for King Christian IV, and is now The Museum of National History

The portrait of the Australian-born princess, by Australian artist Ralph Heimans, will be part of an exhibition called Australian Visit, to be held at the Museum of National History at Frederiksborg north of Copenhagen.
