Crown Prince Frederik promotes education

On Tuesday, 10 June 2008, Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark opened the "Youth: Education for All" conference at the Odense Congress Center in Odense, the third largest city in Denmark. The Prince arrived at the conference in a Maserati, causing some to jokingly suggest that kids would look to Prince Frederik as a role model for completing their education in order to get a high paying job. An accomplished scholar himself, Crown Prince Frederik studied at Harvard University in the USA and then completed his degree in Political Science at the University of Aarhus in Denmark.

The conference was held as a question and answer session to try to find ways to make more young people finish youth courses and figure out how to reduce the number of young people who drop out of school.

Chairman of the debate Cecilie Beck stated, to the amusement of those in attendance, "The Crown Prince himself is a good example of how far you can go with an education. Wife, children, his own castle and officially he hasn't even begun his career yet."

The conference was organized by the Municipal System in Denmark, the Ministry of Education and the Centre for Competence Development and drew about 500 participants.
