Andrew Johnston on Britain's Got TalentAndrew Johnston has emerged as the early favourite to win the second series of Britain's Got Talent. The 13-year-old captivated viwers when he told how he was bullied at school and lived on a dreary council estate ravaged by alcohol and drugs. Andrew sang Pie Jesu on Saturday night and received a standing ovation, moving the audience and judge Amanda Holden to tears. Andrew wants to win the show so he can use the £100,000 prize money to buy a house for his mum Morag. He said: “I want to move away from the estate. I hate it. “Loads of kids my age are drinking. I don’t want to grow up and drink and do drugs. There are a lot of idiots and there’s always fighting outside.” Britain’s Got Talent was watched by 10.6 million viewers – beating the 4.8 million who watched the first edition of Britain's Got Talent in 2007 which featured the audition of the eventual winner, Paul Potts. |
