Avid Big Brother fans have been complaining about the removal of the 24/7 live feed for this series, claiming that we are not seeing enough of the housemates to make judgements on them. But the viewing public had obviously seen enough of Cairon, as he was evicted on Friday with 71.3% of the vote. In an effort to recoup dwindling viewing figures, the big-wigs at Channel 4 left the eviction announcement until the beginning of Friday night's second show, as opposed to revealing it at the end of the first show as normally happens. It succeeded in drawing in more viewers than the previous week's eviction show... but only 300,000 more. It seems they're going to need to do a lot more than that to keep the show interesting to viewers who feel they've now seen it all before.
Leaving to the now almost-obligatory chorus of boos from the crowd, Cairon seemed a shadow of his "housemate" self, seeming almost shy and reserved in giving answers to the questions asked to him by the panel. So, was the bum-baring, expletive-loving character just put on for the cameras? And, if so, would he have been better off without such a game plan? When combined with Sophia's exit the previous week, it would suggest that the public aren't keen on some of the bigger characters in the house.
What do you think? Do some of the bigger characters need to be kept in for the purposes of entertainment? What can the producers do to draw in viewers? And will Halfwit ever get voted out? Have your say on our Big Brother board.
