Fame Academy series 1

The Fame Academy House in Highgate has not been used since the end of the first Comic Relief Does Fame Academy series shown on BBC One in 2003 and had been on sale for £37 million before then.

Sharon Osbourne is reported to have turned down a GBP3 million offer to be a judge on the American version of Fame Academy as she refuses to spend more time away from her family who, she says, mean far more to her than money.

David wets himself

David Sneddon wet his trousers before he went on stage in the Fame Academy final. He told The People newspaper: "It nearly went all wrong for me. Before I went on stage I spilt a glass of champagne on my trousers. There was this giant stain right above my knee. It looked like I'd wet myself.

The Fame Academy album was released on 9th December 2002.

1. With A Little Help From My Friends - Ainslie & David
2. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - Lemar & Sinead
3. Fields Of Gold - Malachi & Marli
4. Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me) - Ainslie & Marli
5. Lean On Me - The Fame Academy Students

Ainslie Henderson, 23, a singer-songwriter originally from Hawick in Scotland.

Ashley House, 28, an economics teacher from Cheltenham.

Camilla Beeput, 21, from north London who had been due study at Ealing Drama Studios.

The twelve Fame Academy students are coached by leading figures from the music industry including celebrity teachers. There are experts on hand to advise on every aspect of the business that an aspiring performer could need to know, whether it’s fine-tuning their performance or tips on handling the press.

The series includes hours of live coverage direct from the Fame Academy House.

However, the Fame Academy House is nothing like the Big Brother House. The students live in Witanhurst in Highgate Village, North London - the second largest stately home in London - Queen Elizabeth lives in the largest one - and it is valued at over £35 million.

BBC bosses ordered Endemol to improve dramatically the programmes they are producing for the Fame Academy. A BBC spokeswoman confirmed there would be changes to the show's format starting on the second Friday show.

The first showdown

Ashley, Nigel and Pippa had to sing for survival on the second Friday show. Ashey sang I Can See Clearly Now, Nigel sang the Wilson Pickett hit In The Midnight Hour and Pippa performed a version of Nelly Furtado's I'm Like A Bird.

The day after the night before

The morning after the first live broadcast the students were dragged out of bed early in the morning by Richard Park's voice booming into the bedrooms. Malachi whiffed his knickers to see whether he could risk wearing them again.
