Apprentice Pantsman, Philip Taylor, is back with - er - pants.
The new organic cotton underwear company, Happy Cottons, has been founded by The Apprentice candidate Philip Taylor. The company will launch a range of fair trade and organic underwear in 2010.
Phil is launching an ethical underwear business because:
- Over 8000 chemicals can be used to turn cotton into a traditional T-shirt.
- 20,000 deaths occur in developing countries each year from poisoning by agricultural pesticides used on crops, of which many, due to their relative toxicity, can be attributed to the growing of cotton.
- Pesticides and insecticides harm natural habitats. In some areas, the cost of chemicals is now reaching 60% of farmer's production costs, often causing intolerable debts for millions of poor farmers.
