Apprentice Kate Walsh could become the biggest star the BBC series has yet produced.
Kate has been signed up to co-present Live From Studio Five, a one-hour alternative version of The One Show on Five, along with Ian Wright and Melinda Messenger.
Five has been moving away from its hapless past and is now looking a better managed TV channel than the others still on the UHF analogue wavebands.
The new show is scheduled to begin in September and will mix news and show business.
Ian Wright is understood to be the main presenter.
